Bay Area Cabaret is thrilled to celebrate our season finale with Tony and Grammy Award winner Billy Porter. As the irrepressible Lola in the musical Kinky Boots, Billy made an indelible mark on Broadway when his electrifying performance earned him the Tony, Drama Desk, and Outer Critic Circle Awards.
In April 2016, Billy returned to Broadway, co-starring with fellow Tony winners Audra McDonald and Brian Stokes Mitchell in the Tony nominated musical Shuffle Along. Mr. Porter's other Broadway appearances include Miss Saigon (w/Lea Salonga and Liz Callaway), Smokey Joe's Cafe, Grease! (1994 revival, w/Rosie O'Donnell), and Dreamgirls: Actors Fund Concer t(w/Lillias White, Norm Lewis, and Audra McDonald). Among his Off Broadway credits are The Merchant of Venice, Ghetto Superstar (which he also wrote), and the critically acclaimed 20th Anniversary production of Angels In America (w/Zachary Quinto and Christian Borle).
As a recording artist, Billy Porter's "Love Is On The Way" became a central musical theme to the Bette Midler/Goldie Hawn/Diane Keaton film The First Wives Club. That led to his debut solo album on A&M records, "Untitled", and the single "Show Me", with all three hitting the Billboard charts. Billy's other recordings include "At the Corner of Broadway & Soul", "Billy's Back On Broadway", and numerous cast albums and guest appearances.
Billy's feature films include The Broken Heart's Club, and The Humbling (w/Al Pacino). And on TV, Billy has appeared on Law and Order, The Big C, PBS's Sinatra: A Voice For A Century, and his own 2015 PBS special, Live From Lincoln Center - Billy Porter: Broadway and Soul.
Don't miss this spectacular season finale with one of Broadway's most dynamic artists!
